| That's not to say there are no emotional highs-"More than one person has come in and burst into tears at finding a long lost pattern." If you don't find yours, know that inventory changes hourly. Add your name and wish to the computer database of customers to be notified if your china shows up. If you're not in the area, call or e-mail. |

| Dishes from the Past Excerpt from Dallas Morning News "Lifestyle Magazine": |

| Ms. Marcell's replacement business features more than 4,000 classic china and earthenware patterns, the majority of them discontinued. But often the missing place setting that has hobbled a customer's heir loom set remains elusive. "They come in and ask: 'Do you have any of my pattern?' And I say, 'No. But you know what? I've got something that may work 10 times better and you may like it more." |
 |
And that's when the fun begins. In a blur of pulling dishes, she rapidly sets one of the tables standing by for this purpose. The viewers eyes widen as a familiar pattern is met and matched by something new. "They don't come in with the intention to mix and match, " Ms. Marcell says. "They need the permission." They get more than permission. They get inspiration. |

Dishes from the Past Listed Among Best 163 Stores in "D Magazine" , October 2003, 2004 and 2005: D Magazine listed us as one of the best 163 stores in Dallas in 2003, 2004 and 2005! (and we're 30 miles from Dallas) "This crystal and china replacement warehouse is 6,000 square feet of sheer delight. . . . whether you're still trying to live down a Thanksgiving incident that cost your grandmother a beloved serving bowl or a bride-to-be who wants to mix old with new, owner Jennifer Marcell is likely to have just the piece or pattern to fit the bill."
Excerpt from the "Dallas Home Design" Magazine - June, 2003: "More than one thousand shelves of inventory that Fleet and Marcell spent three years stockpiling before they opened an outlet doubtless contribute to the museum feel. But so does the fact that "we try hard not to have anything current. Ninety-nine percent of our merchandise is discontinued", Marcell says. The dishes, like pieces of history, "have so many memories attached to them".
"Even so, visitors can touch the dinnerware and take it on the equivalent of a tabletop test drive, mixing and matching place settings on several tables reserved for just such experimentation."

Boston Globe, "Broken China" - March 11, 1999
"We aren't the biggest, but we're growing." says Marcell. . . . . "And we know our dishes backward and forward."
Country Living "Replacement China"November, 1998
"In Fort Worth, Texas, seekers of missing china can peruse the 6,000-square-foot warehouse of Dishes From The Past (800-984-8801). Owner Ida May Fleet, who started the business in 1993 at the spry age of 70 and runs it with her daughter, Jennifer Marcell, describes her customers' joy when they locate pieces of a discontinued wedding pattern or when they recognize their mother or grandmother's pattern.. . . . "One woman told me she had been looking for 20 years for a particular piece that we had, and she didn't think she was ever going to find it," Mrs. Fleet says with an equal amount of joy in her voice. "That's very satisfying to us."
 Fort Worth
Star-Telegram, "Following a Pattern" September 17, 1995 "Ida May Fleet
and her daughter, Jennifer Marcell have become china
detectives helping families scrounge up enough china for all
of the kids.. . . . It's like finding a needle in the
haystack, or winning the treasure hunt."
Home Living "Dishes with a Past" April, 1999
"People
treat the store like a museum," explains Fleet's
daughter Jennifer Marcell, who manages the store. In
fact, just the site of a beloved china pattern has been
known to bring some customers to tears . . ." "But what
one family finds tiresome, another finds irresistible.
Some customers want to expand existing sets so they'll
have enough to hand down complete sets to all their
children. Even young brides are turning to the shop to
register for discontinued or rare patterns they happily
mix and match for sophisiticated
looks."
